Animated:Kenya, December 6th

Submitted by tracy1314 on Monday, 1 December 20083 Comments

A little bit of Hollywood is coming to the suburbs of Nairobi. Animated:Kenya will be held December 6th at Sarit Center, Westlands. Their mission?

To break the myths about Kenyan Animation.

  • It is time to break the myth, that highend animation is a foreign art skill
  • It is time to break the myth that all highend animation seen in Kenya is done “down south”
  • It is time to break the myth that you need big expensive fancy computer to do worldclass animation
  • It is time to break the myth that animation is “not a valuable skill set” and is for “kids”
  • If the one video I could find from their panel of speakers (Jim Chuchu) is any indication, attendees can look forward to a fun day full of smart people who have alot of great information to share.

This free one-day seminar promises inspiration, networking and a full panel of speakers including:
    kwame nyong’o
    celestine wamiru
    gado & james kanja
    daniel muli
    majiqmud & gado
    mike onyango
    jim chuchu
    wesley kirinya
    alfred muchilwa

The seminar was a great success and it was graced by the PS of information Dr Ndemo, who answered an array of question …
most outstanding aspect of the seminar was the disney project that has employed a good number of local animators !! a start of things to happen in the future …
