UNAA Gearing Up
So we have arrived in Orlando full of anticipation but with very little idea of what this conference will hold. We were so excited to find the conference we never really looked at the conference schedule. So, we really were looking forward to getting our conference packs so we could schedule ourselves into the talks and make sure to cover this conference from beginning to end. Will there be conferences on banking, diaspora projects, healthcare? So even though official registration is today we hurried to the early registration on Thursday night.. Lines were short but the wait long; giving us a chance to look around and see a preview of the coming days. We chatted with some of the folks in line (ok, Teddy chatted, I listened). Patiently waiting in line… Turns out it was a live test of the systems intended to help the work out the kinks, good plan! In the mean time we were all glad there was a television on and tuned to the Democratic National Convention, all of us glued to that TV waiting for Obama to come on and make history. He did not dissappoint. Once we got our packets it became pretty clear, we are a day early. Most of the activities start on Saturday, not much happening until 6:00 Friday. This convention offers something for everyone, a chance to connect with Ugandans and network for business, or friendship, praise and worship, political round tables, legal talks about dual citizenship and land issues back home, activities for the kids, dancing, and socializing. I am looking forward to seeing this group in action, we will keep you posted on the happenings so stay tuned!
