Conference: Tech4Africa 08 Cancelled, MobileActive08 “still in the zone.”

Submitted by TMS Ruge on Tuesday, 9 September 2008One Comment

This sad news just in, the guys behind Tech4Africa had to cancel the event due to lack of adequate sponsorship. Even with a flurry of last minute donors, the funds weren’t enough to cover the budget deficit. The news is not all bad however, as hopes are high that this gives the team adequate time to plan for next year’s event.

If you or your company are looking to make a splash in the African Tech sector, hint, hint. This would be a great opportunity for you to sieze the title sponsor role in exchange for positive buzz about your wares, and up your score on the social cache meter. What’s that they say about opportunity knocks? So if you an able tech savvy Diasporan and willing to “carpe diem”, feel free to contact the Gareth at Tech4Africa for more info.

The good news, MobileActive08 is still on tap to rock Jo’burg on the 13-15th. Bill Gates, it’s confirmed, has declined to attend, but the show will go on as scheduled. The conference is also embracing the open/unconference structure for some of it’s sessions. It you’ve got a topic you’d like to discuss, it’s not too late to get involved.
