Doing Business in Africa? Want to Do Business in Africa?
Got an e-mail today from George Ndahendekire Ndyamuba, First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Uganda. Which if I were delusional would lead me to suspect that we might be friends… I however, am not delusional, so my next best guess is that my attendance at the UNAA convention has led to my inclusion on his mailing list. Which means I get to find out about great events like this one.
According to the very personal e-mail I recieved:
Please join us for an outstanding opportunity to expand your international business partners and/or explore the possibilities your business or organization may have by meeting with African Companies. Once you register, you will be able to research the companies attending, and request meetings with those companies at the Summit on November 10th, 2008.
The Earlier you register, the better the Blend! The business-to-business meetings are pre-scheduled through an electronic matchmaking matrix, which must be completed at the time of registration. To ensure that your company is perfectly matched, select the industry(ies) that apply to your company on the left, and prepare a brief description of your needs/services. Be specific, participants will be able to review the statement to request additional meetings.
We match companies up that may be able to increase
business for each other. The catch is, each trader only has a few meeting slots, this is why registering early is in your best interest. We can work together to find you the perfect line-up.The 2008 Summit will be held at Martin’s Crosswinds; Greenbelt, Maryland USA. Beginning on the 10th, we will host a series of optional workshops to mix with your meetings. On the 11th we will conclude the Summit with our spectacular Gala, don’t miss out!

This actually looks like a really great concept. The Gala allows for networking while the meetings matched to your specific business needs allow you to really get down to business and make real business connections. Market Sectors covered include:
If any of you decide to go, please let us know! We would love to hear if it was worth while .

It does seem like a great idea. Pity the information about it was distributed in such a haphazard way.
